Who we are
My Spiritual Life ("we," "us," or "our") provides a mobile app for personal spiritual practice and optional Sunday School participation. This policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share information when you use the app.
Information we collect
- Account information, including email address, preferred or display name, and account type.
- Date of birth, used to provide age-appropriate account setup and to determine when parental consent is required.
- For a child account (under age 13), the parent or guardian's name and email address used for the parental approval request.
- Spiritual-practice and progress information you choose to record, such as prayer, Bible reading, fasting, liturgy, and other in-app progress.
- Optional church, division, class, role, and membership information when you participate in Sunday School.
- Limited technical information needed to operate and secure the app, such as platform type and account-session activity.
We collect only the information necessary to provide the features you use.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure accounts, save spiritual progress, provide class membership and role-based access, send account and parental-approval emails, respond to support requests, and maintain the app.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising.
Sunday School access
Sunday School participation is optional. If an account joins a class, assigned Sunday School servants and authorized church leadership may see only the information they are permitted to access for that class or church role. Servants may send encouraging messages to class members through the app. Parent or guardian email addresses are not shown to Sunday School servants. Bible reflections are restricted according to the app's permission rules.
Priest connection
You may voluntarily add a priest to your account. When you do, the priest may see the display name associated with the connection, your permitted spiritual-progress records, badges, and your last logged confession date. Bible reflections and confession details are not shared. You may remove a priest connection at any time in the app's settings.
Family accounts
A family account may be created so that parents or guardians can view and encourage their children's spiritual progress. Family account members with a parental or guardian role may see permitted progress records for linked child accounts. Bible reflections are not accessible to other family members. Parents may manage family-account connections in the app's settings.
Children and parental consent (COPPA)
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. When the date of birth entered for an account indicates the person is under 13, the account remains unavailable until a parent or guardian provides consent through the parental-approval email we send.
That approval covers personal use of the app, joining Sunday School classes, and an optional connection with a priest. If a child connects with a priest, the priest may see the display name provided for that connection, permitted spiritual-progress records, badges, and the last logged confession date, but not Bible reflections or confession details.
We do not use a child's information for advertising or marketing, and we do not contact children directly for marketing purposes. A parent or guardian may revoke consent at any time through the link in the approval-confirmation email or by contacting us, request to review or correct their child's information, request deletion of their child's account and information, or refuse further collection or use of their child's information. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
Service providers and sharing
We use service providers to operate the app, including Supabase for authentication, database, and secure backend functions, and Resend for transactional emails. These providers process information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety, security, and integrity of the app and its users.
Security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We retain information only as long as needed to provide the app, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When a child's account is deleted, we remove associated personal information in accordance with applicable law.
Your choices
You can update available account details in the app. You can permanently delete your account in the app from Settings. If you cannot sign in, you can use our account-deletion page to submit a deletion request. Parents and guardians may contact us at any time to review, correct, or delete their child's information, or to revoke consent for further use. Some information may be retained when required for security, legal, or recordkeeping purposes.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes affecting children's information, we will seek renewed parental consent where required by law.
